Crime writer Robert Rutherford to visit Northallerton Library

Robert Rutherford.

Award-winning crime author Robert Rutherford is set to give a talk at Northallerton Library next month.

The event will take place on Wednesday, June 3, from 7pm and will focus on the writer’s bestselling thrillers and career in crime fiction.

Robert’s books include the Sunday Times bestseller Seven Days and his latest novel, The Missing Hour.

The new thriller follows Maggie, whose husband is arrested on suspicion of murder, sparking a desperate race to uncover the truth.

Although all the evidence appears to point to his guilt, Maggie knows there is one crucial problem — her husband was with her all night. However, she is hiding a secret of her own involving one unexplained missing hour.

Before becoming a full-time author, Robert worked in a wide variety of roles including bookseller, pizza delivery driver, karate instructor, football coach and HR manager.

He now lives on the North-East coast with his wife, children and what organisers describe as an “overly needy dog”.

Robert is also a founding member of the Northern Crime Syndicate crime writers’ group.

Tickets for the Northallerton Library event cost £3.

Places can be booked by visiting the library, calling 01609 533832 or emailing [email protected].

Copies of Robert’s books — including earlier detective novels written under the name Robert Scragg — are available to borrow from the library.

His books will also be on sale during the evening in partnership with the Waterstones Northallerton branch of Waterstones.
