Firefighters were called after smoke was spotted coming from a field near Northallerton.
A crew from Northallerton responded to the incident on Yafforth Road at about 6.10pm.
On arrival, firefighters discovered a bonfire measuring approximately four metres by four metres.
Due to the weather conditions, the crew decided to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters used a light portable pump and a main jet to put out the blaze.
Advice was given following the incident.
