Firefighters from three stations were called to an industrial unit fire in Northallerton on Thursday evening.

Crews from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service stations in Northallerton, Thirsk and Stokesley responded to the incident on Tannery Lane at 8.33pm.

All occupants had safely evacuated the building before emergency services arrived and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze while taking care to prevent contaminated water run-off from the site.

Once the main fire had been brought under control, several firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the industrial unit to tackle remaining hotspots.

Crews used a thermal imaging camera to identify areas of lingering heat before damping them down.

After the incident was made safe, the scene was handed back to the responsible person.

A fire investigation is due to take place in daylight hours to establish the cause of the blaze.
