Volunteers from Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) came to the aid of a walker who had slipped and fallen on Roseberry Topping yesterday.

The team was called to the incident at around 11.45am yesterday by a local farmer.

A rescue team Land Rover was dispatched and other team members were asked to meet at Aireyholme Farm.

The farmer was on scene with the injured lady and after discussions with him, the Land Rover, with help from the farmer’s tractor, made its way across the wet fields neat to where the woman was located.

A spokesperson for CMRT said: “Other Team Members and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust Paramedic made their way to the accident site on foot.

“Team members and the paramedic treated the lady for her injury.

“She was placed in our casualty bag to warm her up and she was carried up to our Land Rover using our bell stretcher.

“She was then transported in our Rescue Land Rover down to Aireyholme Farm where she was transferred to the YAS Road Ambulance.

“We wish her well for a speedy recovery.

“Many thanks to everyone at Aireyholme Farm for providing initial help to the lady, for allowing us access through their farm and for the assistance of the tractor to get our Land Rover up the very wet sheep field.”

In total 16 team members were involved on the rescue with two others co-ordinating the incident from home.

The incident lasted 1.5 hours with a further one hour back at base to sort the damp and muddy equipment and vehicle, and decontaminate.
