Motorist rescued after vehicle left hanging over embankment

A motorist was rescued after their vehicle hit a tree and ended up hanging over an embankment.

The incident happened at about 2.45pm today in the Stokesley area.

A fire crew from Northallerton and colleagues from Colby Newham responded to the single-vehicle road traffic collision.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and rescue Service said: “The driver had hit a tree and was precariously left hanging over an embankment towards a nearby ford.

“Crews used stabilization equipment and cutting equipment to make space for the driver to get out of the vehicle safely.

“The incident was left in the hands of paramedics.”
