Firefighters attended commercial premises last night amid concerns about burn marks.
Crews from Richmond and Colburn were called to the incident in East Layton at about 10.30pm.
The burn marks were near a boiler.
However, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were discovered to be historical and there was no fire.
