Burglars escape with 2,500 eggs from Great Ayton

Approximately 2,500 eggs were stolen from a barn in Great Ayton

Burglars have escaped with a haul of eggs worth £1,500 according to police.

More than 2,500 eggs were stolen from a barn off Dikes Lane in Great Ayton.

The thieves entered the agricultural building at some point between 4.30am and 6am on November 20 and then made off with hundreds of eggs. Stokesley Police say the haul had an estimated retail value of £1,500.

Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour around the time of the incident, or who may have any other information, are asked to ring North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 12180217149.
