Thirsk drink driver disqualified for more than three years

A Thirsk drink driver has been disqualified from holding a licence for 40 months.

Brian Barker, 55, of Hambleton Place, Thirsk, appeared before magistrates in York on Monday.

He admitted driving a Toyota Avensis in the town’s Hambleton Drive on September 9 last year while having 45 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

The defendant also admitted driving without insurance.

As well as the driving ban, Barker was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £816.
