Suspected drink driver arrested after three people hurt in crash

Three people were injured and a suspected drink driver was arrested following a crash today.

Police said the “nasty collision” occurred in Thornton le Street, near Northallerton, in the early hours of this morning.

A driver lost control and flipped his car, injuring his two passengers and himself.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “When we breathalised him, he blew almost twice the drink drive limit and was taken into custody.

“Fortunately, none of the injuries were serious and no other vehicles were involved.”

Police said he was the 18th driver in North Yorkshire to be arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving this week.

The spokesperson said: “Do you have information about someone who drives while drunk or on drugs?

“Call us on 101 and select option 1, or 999 if it’s happening now.

“Your call could save a life.”
