Sign up for garden waste scheme

Residents in Hambleton can now sign up for the garden waste collection scheme

Hambleton residents can now sign up for the council’s garden waste service.

Subscriptions for the 2019/20 garden waste service are now open to residents in the district.

New and existing customers can sign up for the £35 a year fortnightly collection service online at; hambleton.gov.uk

Hambleton District Council said last year, more than 50 per cent of properties in the district enrolled and almost 22,000 licences for a green waste bin were bought. More than 800 residents brought multiple licences.

“We have been delighted with the take up for this service – and hope our residents are keen to stay on board, especially as the annual charge is remaining unchanged,” said cabinet member, Councillor Stephen Watson.

“At £35 a year per bin we believe it is excellent value for money and we hope everyone will renew their licence early to be ready for the start of the 2019 collection year.”

The last garden waste collections for 2018 were in November and will re-start week mid-February.

Hambleton District Council said residents already participating in the current green waste collection service need to keep their blue licences on their bins until the final collection in March 2019.

Christmas trees will once again be collected from subscribers in January either week commencing 7 or 14.  The collection dates are published on the district council’s website. Trees need to be chopped up and placed inside the bin with the lid closed.
