The district council has launched a new Government-led grant scheme for Hambleton businesses.
The local government discretionary grant scheme has been set up to help businesses who have previously been outside of the scope of the two other coronavirus business grant fund schemes.
The application window will be open for two weeks – it closes at midnight on June 15
Priority will be given to businesses in shared spaces, regular market traders, small charity properties that would meet the criteria for Small Business Rate Relief, and bed and breakfasts properties that pay council tax rather than business rates.
This scheme will provide support to those small and micro businesses that are experiencing increased costs or disruptions to their cash flow as a result of covid19 and have ongoing fixed property-related costs.
Businesses that received help from the Small Business Grant Fund or the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Fund are not eligible to apply. However, anyone eligible for Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme or Self –Employed Income Support Scheme may also apply for the Discretionary Grant Scheme.
The allocation of funding will be at the discretion of the Hambleton District Council officers administering the scheme.
Grants between £2,000 and up to £10,000 will be awarded with a maximum £25,000 in exceptional circumstances.
Applicants are asked to check the website – www.hambleton.gov.uk/discretionarygrants– to see the full eligibility criteria. They must be able to provide evidence of ongoing fixed property costs and demonstrate that a significant drop of income has resulted due to the pandemic. This evidence will be required as part of the application process.
