Hambleton householders are being reminded to keep their Electoral Register records up to date and not lose the right to vote.
Household Enquiry Forms were sent to all homes in early summer with the deadline for the initial response last week.
For the 12,000 that have not responded a reminder will be delivered next week with a further deadline of 16 September.
Anyone that doesn’t respond will be visited by an electoral canvasser to collect the information that is required by law.
Residents are asked to help save the council money by responding online, by free phone or text if there are no changes and if there are changes they can only be made electronically using online facilities.
Details on how to respond are contained in the Household Enquiry Form or alternatively the form can be returned to the council in the pre-paid envelope provided.
Electoral Registration Officer at Hambleton District Council, Dr Justin Ives said: “It is important that residents respond as soon as possible, so we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in Hambleton, an election can be called at anytime in the year, so it is important for residents to make sure they can vote.”
Any new residents added to the enquiry form are required to register individually online at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or a form will be sent by post.
