Emergency services called to three-vehicle crash on A19

Emergency services were called to a serious three-vehicle collision on the A19 near Hutton Sessay on Thursday morning.

Crews from Northallerton and Ripon attended the scene at around 7.55am, where one person was trapped inside a vehicle.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the casualty.

All those involved were then left in the care of ambulance crews, with the incident later handed over to the police.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed the crash led to a full road closure between the turn-offs for Thirkleby and Hutton Sessay.

A spokesperson said: “We are at the scene of a serious collision on the A19 between the turn-offs to Thirkleby and Hutton Sessay.

“The road is closed in both directions.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route at this time.”

The closure remained in place while emergency services dealt with the incident.
