Police have confirmed that a body discovered on open land near Easingwold has been formally identified as missing man Robert Rees-Hughes.
The discovery was made on Friday, April 17, following months of enquiries after Robert was reported missing to North Yorkshire Police on November 29, 2025.
Officers said extensive searches had been carried out in the weeks after he was reported missing.
In a statement, police confirmed Robert’s family have been informed.
A spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
They also thanked members of the public who supported the investigation.
“Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal or provided information,” the spokesperson added.
