Donations of new toys and food are being sought for vulnerable families in Hambleton this Christmas.

The Salvation Army in Thirsk is looking for donations of unwrapped, new toys and gifts for children and young people who might otherwise not receive a Christmas present. The gifts will then be wrapped and distributed to those in need in the local area.

Donations can include baby clothes, toys, stationery, books, DVDs, hair accessories, gloves, make-up, games or puzzles for babies, children or teenagers.

The appeal is unable to take used or second hand items for its Christmas Present Appeal. The Salvation Army is also collecting non-perishable food to put into food hampers.

To donate your gift, visit the Salvation Army shop in Thirsk Market Place.

Items will be collected at the shop between now and December 17 in order to be distributed in time for Christmas.
