Bomb disposal called after suspected incendiary device delivered to Northallerton address

Bomb disposal officers were called out yesterday after a suspected World War Two incendiary device was delivered to an address in Northallerton.

Firefighters were also called to the incident in the town’s Malpas Road at about 12.30pm.

The Northallerton fire crew remained on standby and assisted police to cordon off the building until the arrival of the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team from Catterick.

The EOD team then transported the device to open ground where it was disposed of in a controlled explosion.
