Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 70s died following a collision near Sutton-on-the-Forest.
The collision happened on the B1363 York Road, approaching the village, at around 3.15pm on Wednesday, August 12.
It involved a red Vauxhall Astra and a silver Audi.
North Yorkshire Police said the driver of the Astra, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which were initially described as minor.
Police have now confirmed that the man has since died.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, saw either vehicle beforehand or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
The driver of the Audi has assisted officers with their enquiries.
The road was closed for several hours following the collision while police investigated the scene and the vehicles were recovered.
