Ghostly goings-on at Kiplin Hall as Halloween tours return

Kiplin Hall to open its doors for exclusive after-hours ghost tour this Halloween, guided by the Butler.

Visitors to a historic North Yorkshire country house are being invited to discover what goes bump in the night this Halloween.

Kiplin Hall, which has stood for 400 years, is opening its doors after dark for special ghost tours exploring the mysterious sightings and unexplained experiences reported over the years.

The hall, which has been home to four families and witnessed centuries of history, has long been associated with tales of supernatural activity.

Among the stories are accounts of a sobbing woman whose identity and reasons for her distress remain a mystery.

The hall also houses a piece of wood said to have come from the execution block associated with King Charles I.

Over the years, the property has attracted visits from psychics and television programmes, including Most Haunted, keen to investigate its reported paranormal activity.

Now visitors will have the opportunity to hear the stories for themselves during special after-hours tours on Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31.

Rosie Kluz, head of operations at Kiplin Hall, said: “Over the years many people have visited Kiplin Hall and claimed to hear, see or feel things of a supernatural nature.

“Maybe they are ghosts, lost souls, or maybe not, but there are many stories about Kiplin Hall that give you goosebumps.

“We’ve gathered up these accounts to create a unique tour for visitors to enjoy this autumn.

“Guests can tour the hall after hours with the butler, who will guide them through the historic rooms, sharing the evocative tales rich with history and local legend.”

Tours will take place at 5.30pm and 7pm on both evenings, with visitors exploring the atmospheric rooms in low lighting.

The experience involves climbing two staircases, and there is no lift. While suitable for some young people, the tours are not recommended for children under 14.

The café will be open before and after the tours, although the gardens will be closed after dark.

Booking is essential, with further information available at kiplinhall.co.uk.
