Drivers are being warned to expect long delays on the A19 this afternoon after two separate crashes between Ingleby Arncliffe and Crathorne, near Trenholme Bar.

Emergency services are currently at the scene and dealing with both incidents.

Fire crews from Northallerton, Ripon, and crews from Cleveland attended the first collision at about 4.30am on the A19 southbound at East Rounton.

This involved three vehicles.

All occupants were out of their vehicles on the arrival of the crews and the incident was left in the hands of the police.

Crews from Cleveland and two crews from Northallerton responded to a further road traffic collision involving two vehicles in the queue of traffic caused by the previous one at about 5.10am.

One person was trapped in their vehicle.

Crews extricated the person and left them in the hands of ambulance crews.

Traffic is reported to be very heavy in the area, and motorists are being advised to avoid the stretch if possible.

Police say disruption is likely to continue for some time while the incidents are cleared.

Drivers are urged to listen to local traffic updates and take alternative routes where possible.
