A woman suffered slight smoke inhalation due to overcooked chips today.
Two fire crews from Northallerton were called to reports of smoke coming from a flat in South Parade at 12.34pm.
Firefighters discovered that overcooked chips had been removed from the oven but sufficient smoke was produced to activate the smoke alarm.
Due to hearing difficulties the resident could not hear the alarm and was led from the property by firefighters.
Crews ventilated the property and an ambulance attended to check over the resident who suffered slight smoke inhalation.
