Tornado steam locomotive visits Wensleydale Railway

The famous Tornado steam locomotive will run on the Wensleydale Railway today and over the weekend.

This is the first time the iconic modern steam loco will have visited Wensleydale Railway and is the first of two visits this year.

Tornado will be running its first passenger trips from Leeming Bar and Bedale to Redmire at 10.30am on Friday.

Trains will then run from at 10.30am and 2.15pm from Leeming Bar on  Saturday.

A Valentine’s Day Tea Service train will run on Sunday. This is fully booked.

Richard Brown, general manager said: “We are delighted to welcome such an iconic loco to Wensleydale Railway not just once but twice in 2019.

“What a fantastic way to launch our 2019 season.”

No. 60163 Tornado was build in Darlington after a £3m fundraising campaign and was completed in 2008.

Tornado then returns to Wensleydale Railway on Sunday, May 12, leaving on Wednesday, June 5.
