Steam train to run on Wensleydale Railway

Steam-hauled trains will run on the Wensleydale Railway over the next two days.

Passengers are being invited to journey behind Ex LMS Black 5 locomotive No. 45407 ‘The Lancashire Fusilier’.

Two days of steam services on December 29 and 30 and a one day diesel service (behind class 47, 47701) on December 28 will operate

The steam services will depart Leeming Bar for Leyburn at 11am and 1.45pm on both days.

The diesel service will depart Leeming Bar for Leyburn at 10am, 12pm and 2.30pm.

All tickets are rovers, so travel on any service from any station on the day.

Station cafes and shops will be open at Bedale and Leyburn, serving a selection of hot and cold refreshments.

There will be no café facilities at Leeming Bar station as it’s still set up for Polar Express and no on-train trolley services.

For customers travelling by car, there is no car parking available at Leeming Bar Station or on the street outside.

There is, however, parking available at the former Vale of Mowbray factory overflow carpark, situated immediately behind the factory site at Low Street, off Leases Road.

Alternatively, you can board the trains at Bedale Station (DL8 1AW) where there is ample parking in the town.

The return ticket price, if booked online, will be £20 for adults, £18 for seniors and £1 for children (aged 3-15).

Booking is essential to avoid disappointment.
