A horse was rescued from a ditch by firefighters last night.

A crew from Stokesley was called out to the incident near the A172 at 11.10pm.

They worked with a vet to free Rosey the Shetland pony from the ditch, which was full of water.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Rosey the Shetland pony was found stuck and required freeing using strops and some crew power.

“Once freed, Rosey was left in the care of her owner and her best mate Ted.”
