Residents in Northallerton have been urged to be vigilant about a man and women allegedly pretended to be deaf to collect money for a bogus charity.
The couple are reportedly asking people to donate money to a bogus charity called the Association for Deaf and disabled people.
Both the man and the woman, described as Eastern European, were seen carrying a clip board with a form on it on Wednesday morning.
They were asking for various details from the people they approached.
If you see anyone on Northallerton High Street claiming to be a representative of a charity, please ask them for some form of identification before donating.
If they are unable to identify themselves, please report to the police via the North Yorkshire Police website or on 101, option 1.
