Police appeal over Northallerton ‘charity’ collectors

Police want to speak to people who gave money to two women who claimed they were collecting for charity.

The women, believed to be of Eastern Europe origin, said they were collecting money for deaf and disabled children.

It is believed they were operating in Northallerton High Street today as well as inn Catterick Garrison and possibility elsewhere in North Yorkshire in recent days.

The women had paperwork claiming they were receiving donations for the charity.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “If you have given money to the females or were approached by them in Northallerton or Catterick, please call us.”
