Man cut free by firefighters after A19 crash

A man had to be cut free by firefighters after a crash on the A19 last night.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway near North Kilvington at around 7.30pm.

Fire crews from Northallerton and Thirsk attended the single vehicle collision after requests were made from the ambulance service.

Emergency services had arrived to find a car had left the road and one male was trapped in the vehicle.

He was released by fire crews using cutting gear, small tools, lines, glass cutter and stabilisation equipment.

The road was blocked for several hours while the emergency services worked at the scene.
