Almost 1,000 vintage and classic vehicles are expected to descend on Wensleydale when the Hunton Steam Gathering returns for its 39th year.
The annual heritage, vintage and craft fair will take place over the weekend of September 12 and 13, with organisers promising one of the biggest events yet.
Held on a 70-acre site between Leyburn and Bedale, the gathering celebrates more than 100 years of agricultural and motoring heritage, with exhibits ranging from full-size steam engines to classic motorbikes.
This year there will be more than 30 full-size steam engines and 50 miniature steam engines, alongside hundreds of other vintage and classic vehicles.
One of the highlights will see a pair of Fowler steam ploughing engines working together to plough and cultivate the land.
They will be joined by a horse-ploughing demonstration, while a vintage ploughing match will take place on the Saturday.
There will also be continuous entertainment in the main arena, including displays from Walworth Castle Birds of Prey and Pennine Carter Bernese Mountain Dogs, classic car driving demonstrations and children’s tug-of-war competitions.
Vintage fairground attractions will include a big wheel, steam-powered gallopers and chair-o-planes, while working demonstrations will take place around the site.
The growing Craft and Food Market will feature local producers and suppliers, with further trade stalls and a large auto-jumble selling tools, equipment and vehicle parts.
Food and drink will be available throughout the weekend, including the opportunity to enjoy a full Sunday dinner in the refreshments marquee and locally produced beers at the bar.
Live entertainment will also take place on the Friday and Saturday evenings for those camping at the site.
The event is run entirely by volunteers, with more than 80 people helping to stage the weekend.
Organisers say the success of the 2025 gathering enabled them to donate more than £14,000 to local charities and good causes.
The site is around five miles south of Catterick and six miles from both Bedale and Leyburn, with free parking available.
Admission is £12 for adults and £6 for children, with under-fives admitted free.
