Hambleton District Council consults on next year’s budget

Hambleton District Council's former offices in Northallerton now used by North Yorkshire Council.

A public consultation is now underway to gather views on Hambleton District Council’s initial budget proposals for the next financial year.

During the six weeks consultation period, the council is encouraging residents and business owners to have their say on what it should be looking to spend its money on – and on the levels of council tax it levies.

Cllr Mark Robson, leader of the council, said: “Hambleton aims to achieve efficiency savings and generate income to deliver a balanced budget whilst maintaining the same or an improved level of service and keeping council tax low.

“We would like to know what local people want us to focus on and what their priorities are and we hope people will work with us going forward and complete the budget consultation”

In February 2021, the council has to approve a budget, and to help inform that decision, residents, business and voluntary organisations are encouraged to have their say on where the council’s funds should be used to support services.

The consultation can be accessed online at www.hambleton.gov.uk/survey/budget  until Friday, October 30.

Paper copies are available upon request by contacting the council on 01609 779977.
