A chimney fire was reported at Stillington Road, Sutton on the Forest, at 8.20pm last night.
The Acomb fire crew arrived to find the fire was out.
They removed the chimney pot to a safe location, inspected the loft area, and used equipment to deal with the incident.
The fire was caused by a build-up of soot.
