Firefighters called to cars on fire in compound

Firefighters were called to a fire involving several vehicles yesterday.

The incident happened in Station Road, Brompton, at about 10.15pm.

Crews from Northallerton and Thirsk responded to a report of a fire seen in the open.

On arrival they found it was vehicles on fire in a commercial compound.

Crews extinguished the fire and dampened the area down using breathing apparatus and an extended hose reel jet.

Three vehicles suffered 100 per cent fire damage, three vehicles suffered 50 per cent fire damage and a further three vehicles suffered heat and smoke damage.
