Firefighters called after woman gets head stuck in shoe rack

Firefighters were called out early this morning after a woman fell and got her head stuck in a shoe rack.

The incident happened in Bedale.

Firefighters from the town were called at 12.37am.

The woman had fallen and got her head stuck in between the bars on a shoe rack.

Firefighters used a hack saw and bolt croppers to release the woman’s head and left her in the care of ambulance personell.

In a separate incident, crews from Northallerton were called to a report of a cooker on fire in a residential property in the town at 5.17pm on Friday.

This was caused by misuse of the cooking appliance. The fire was contained within the oven resulting in 10 per cent smoke damage to the kitchen.

Crews used a fire bucket to extinguish the fire.
