The date has been announced for the annual Emmerdale Charity Cricket Match with organisers promising more activities and stalls than ever before.

The match, which is held annually on Crakehall green and organised by village’s Bay Horse pub in Crakehall sees famous cast members from the much-loved show go up against the local village team.

On Sunday July 16, you can expect to see cast members such as Chris Chittell who plays Eric Pollard, Bhasker Patel as Rishi Sharma, and Joe-Warren Plant as Jacob Gallagher.

The chosen charities for this year’s event are Crakehall Primary School and The Dales School in Morton on Swale.

To raise money for the charities, the event hosts many stalls such as Fostering North Yorkshire, Theakston’s cask ale bar (who sponsor the event) and fast-food and sweet vendors.

A new stall that will be travelling to Crakehall this year is Miss Havisham’s Bookshop which recently opened its doors in Bedale.

Miranda Hargrave, who runs Miss Havisham’s, had attended the Emmerdale Cricket match with her children for years and thought it was the perfect place to get her books on the road.

She said: “It’s a big event round here as it’s a famous programme set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. I’m excited to be able to bring the bookshop out into the community.”
