The Coroner’s Office is appealing for help to trace the family of a Great Ayton man who has died.

Officials are seeking relatives of 84-year-old Derrick Dobson, who lived in the village and sadly passed away on 1 June.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, but the Coroner’s Office has so far been unable to locate his next of kin.

There is believed to be a possibility that Mr Dobson has family connections in the Leeds area, and officers are asking anyone who may be related to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “This is a next of kin appeal on behalf of the Coroner’s Office. They are trying to locate relatives of 84-year-old Derrick Dobson who lived in Great Ayton.

“He sadly died on 1 June. It is not being treated as suspicious.

“There is a possibility he has family in the Leeds area.”

Anyone who believes they are related to Mr Dobson is asked to contact the Coroner’s Office by email at [email protected].
