Carlton Lodge gets funding for improvements

Money has been provided for improvements at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre near Thirsk.

Hambleton District Council’s Making a Difference grants have enabled the centre to meet ongoing refurbishment and renewal costs.

The grants have enabled the centre to replace some of its tired mattresses, duvets and pillows.

In addition, the grants have helped to keep the centre’s fleet of canoes and kayaks safe by replacing a few that were no longer fit for purpose.

The charity have made a contribution of 25 per cent of the total cost which has been supported by a grant from The Yorkshire Lasses Cycling Club, who conduct a ladies only sportive each year starting and finishing at Carlton Lodge.

The next sportive is on July 28, 2019.

The centre’s chief executive David Sharp said: “Replacing these every day items is important for our young visitor’s welfare.

“The grants make a huge difference, allowing other funds from our budget to be focused on the important personal development work we do for them.

“We are very grateful to Hambleton District Council and The Yorkshire Lasses Cycling Club for their generous support.”
