Firefighters tackled a small woodland fire near Kildale after a campfire spread into the surrounding undergrowth and peat.
Stokesley and Danby fire crews were called out at 12.48am this morning to reports of an area of woodland smouldering.
On arrival, crews found that a small campfire had spread into the surrounding woodland, igniting undergrowth and peat.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using knapsack sprayers and a hose reel before ensuring the area was made safe.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has reminded people to take care with open fires in the countryside, particularly during dry conditions, as even small campfires can quickly spread to surrounding vegetation.
