Bedale AFC are celebrating another successful season after winning the Heck Harrogate & District Colin Lowe Premier League with a game to play.

Last Saturday, they also won the Heck Harrogate & District League Senior Cup defeating Hampsthwaite FC 6-0.

The match started with a high tempo from Bedale and some tasty challenges from both sides, showing this was going to be a physical encounter.

In the seventh minute, Jonathan Burn sent a 60-yard ball to the feet of Dan Baxter who took a touch and slotted it into the bottom corner.

In the 16th minute, John Henry burst through the Hampsthwaite defence and as he crossed in the box, a Hampsthwaite defender raised a hand to give away a penalty which was slotted home by Colin Anderson.

In the 33rd minute, Baxter beat two on the left-hand side before unselfishly squaring the ball for Anderson to get his second. Four minutes later Anderson repaid Baxter with a sublime cross that Baxter smashed home on the volley to give Bedale a 4-0 halftime lead.

The second half saw Bedale managing the game, using the ball well through the middle of the park. Matthew Libera, captain Callum Fletcher and veteran Mitch Cameron were dominating the midfield and 5 minutes into the second half Anderson got his hat-trick with a great solo run and calm finish.

A couple of substitutes saw Alan Beattie and Will Horner coming on to put some fresh legs into the team.

It took 27 minutes for the next goal to come with Baxter getting his deserved hat-trick and his 54th goal of the season.

Manager Alan Pattison made his last change bringing on Jonathan Savings to see out the game.

Savings then had two excellent efforts kept out only by the great work of the Hampsthwaite keeper.

Full-time result was an emphatic 6-0 victory for Bedale AFC.

On Saturday May 11, Bedale host the Heck Harrogate & District League Sunday Cup final at 3pm at the Heck Stadium between Beckwithshaw Saints FC and Hampsthwaite FC and the following Saturday, May 18, Bedale AFC play their final game of the season away to Beckwithshaw Saints at 2pm.

As the football season draws to a close, the club are actively looking to recruit players for the 2024-2025 season and also a management team to run a reserve/development team.
