Teenage motorcyclist dies in collision near Thirsk

A motorcyclist died in a collision with a car on the A19 this morning.

The incident happened between Great Thirkleby and Carlton Husthwaite at about 6.20am today.

It involved a white KTM motorcycle and a grey Seat Terra.

Sadly, the rider of the motorbike, an 18-year-old man, died at the scene.

Both the driver of the car and passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A police spokesperson said: “We are especially keen to hear from anyone who was travelling towards Thirsk.

“If you witnessed the collision, or you have dashcam footage please get in touch.”

Police were called at 6.20am today by the ambulance service to the collision.

The road was closed between Great Thirkleby and Carlton Husthwaite for several hours.

The road was opened to the public again at 12.25pm.

An investigation has been launched.
