A missing dog has been reunited with his delighted owners after a week-long search involving dozens of volunteers.

Otto, a black and white cocker spaniel, had been missing for seven days, prompting a major appeal for help from residents, walkers, farmers and gamekeepers.

His disappearance from a dog groomer near Kiplin Hall sparked a huge community response, with people sharing appeals on social media, checking possible sightings and joining organised searches.

The search finally ended happily when a local farmer managed to shut Otto inside a barn, allowing him to be safely recovered.

His relieved owner, Kelly Ann Ure, said the family had been overwhelmed by the kindness and support they had received.

She said: “We honestly cannot thank everyone enough for all the help, support and kindness shown over the last few days while we searched for our boy.

“To everyone who shared posts, kept an eye out, joined the searches, offered advice, brought food, checked sightings or simply sent messages of support – we are so incredibly grateful.

“The amount of people who came together to help bring Otto home has been overwhelming, and we will never forget the kindness everyone has shown us.”

The search involved specialist groups including Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK and Lost Dog Tracking Network – North Yorkshire, alongside local volunteers.

Kelly also thanked the farmer who managed to secure Otto inside the barn.

She added: “After what has felt like the longest few days of our lives, we are absolutely over the moon to have our boy home where he belongs.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We couldn’t have done it without you!”
