Emergency services were called after a vehicle overturned on the A1 yesterday evening.
Fire crews from Bedale, Northallerton and Ripon responded to the single-vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway between junctions 51 at Leeming and junction 50 at the Baldersby interchange at about 5.30pm.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the vehicle had come to rest on its side on the hard shoulder.
Two people involved in the collision were being assessed by ambulance crews when firefighters arrived.
No rescue was required, with firefighters instead making the scene safe.
Crews removed and isolated the vehicle’s batteries and isolated its gas supply.
They also used small tools and a thermal imaging camera to monitor the temperature of the vehicle and its batteries.
