Police have been informed after two fires involving fly-tipped waste near Great Broughton were believed to have been started deliberately.
A crew from Stokesley was called at about 9am after smoke was spotted in the distance.
Firefighters located the source and discovered two separate fires involving fly-tipped rubbish.
Each fire covered an area measuring approximately five metres by five metres.
The crew used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fires.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said police were informed because the cause was believed to be deliberate.
