A three-day celebration of books, creativity and culture will take place across Thirsk next month.
Bookmarked: Thirsk will run from September 11 to 13, with a programme of 24 events being staged at venues and businesses across the town.
The launch weekend will bring together writers, artists, performers, community groups and local organisations, with activities ranging from author talks and storytelling to creative writing, crafts and performances.
There will also be visual art workshops, heritage activities, film screenings and family-friendly events.
Venues taking part include Rural Arts, Thirsk Community Library, White Rose Books, Community Works, the Ritz Cinema and The World of James Herriot museum, with support from Thirsk Tourist Information.
Organisers say the event is designed not only to celebrate books and creativity but also to encourage people to explore Thirsk town centre and support its High Street.
The festival builds on Thirsk Bookmarked 2025 and will form part of a wider programme of cultural activities running throughout 2026, coinciding with the National Year of Reading.
Funding has come from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority through its Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets Fund.
Mayor of York and North Yorkshire David Skaith said: “Our high streets are where our communities come together.
“That’s why I’m backing creative ideas from the people who know their area best with my High Street Fund.
“By supporting Bookmarked: Thirsk, we are helping to transform the High Street with creative events, community collaboration and inclusive placemaking, driving pride, wellbeing and regeneration.”
Organisers say Bookmarked: Thirsk will continue beyond the September launch weekend, with further events taking place throughout the remainder of 2026.
Residents, businesses, community groups and visitors will be encouraged to get involved and help shape the town’s cultural programme.
The launch weekend runs from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 13.
