Appeal after motorcyclist dies in A19 crash near Chapel Haddlesey

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A19 near Chapel Haddlesey in which a 34-year-old motorcyclist died.

The collision happened at about 1.50pm on Friday, 19 June, on the A19 just north of Chapel Haddlesey, and involved a black Honda motorcycle and a red Vauxhall Corsa.

The motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man from the Selby area, was taken to hospital but later died despite the efforts of medical staff. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, an 18-year-old man, is assisting officers with their enquiries.

North Yorkshire Police is particularly keen to speak to the driver of a red Seat Ibiza, which is believed to have been travelling directly behind the Corsa at the time of the collision. Officers believe the driver may have vital information that could assist the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle before the incident is also urged to come forward.
