A person was taken to hospital after a vehicle caught fire inside an industrial unit in Faceby.

Fire crews from Northallerton and Thirsk were called to the incident at 11.17am on Sunday and found a vehicle on fire inside a large industrial building measuring approximately 45 metres by 35 metres, which contained several other vehicles.

All occupants had safely left the premises before firefighters arrived. One person was assessed at the scene and later taken to hospital by road ambulance.

The fire caused severe damage to the vehicle, with around 75 per cent of it destroyed by flames. There was also slight smoke damage to the roof of the building.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using a hose reel jet and monitored conditions with a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire had been fully extinguished.

The incident was brought under control and crews remained on site to make the area safe. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed.
