The route of the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire will be announced later this morning.

Bedale has been unveiled as one of the eight host locations for the race and it is hoped the route will travel through Hambleton and Richmondshire.

It will be the second major bike race coming through the town next year – the UCI Road World Championships also visit Bedale five months later, next September, with Northallerton hosting the start of the UCI Men’s Elite Individual Time Trial next September.

The 2019 Tour de Yorkshire will take place over four days next year with Bedale joined by Barnsley, Bridlington, Doncaster, Halifax, Leeds, Scarborough and Selby as host towns.

It takes place from May 2 to 5.
