Community groups across Hambleton can once again bid for up to £25,000 in grant aid.
The district council’s Making a Difference grants programme is about to open with another £125,000 in the pot.
It will bring the total allocated since its launch six years ago to £625,000.
Since the programme started in 2015, 132 organisations have received help for a wide range of projects – including schemes to develop village halls, sports clubs or play areas as well as those that support people with mental health, loneliness and isolation and young people with disabilities.
“These grants are helping local groups across Hambleton to bring forward projects that they cannot afford to fund themselves,” said council leader, Councillor Mark Robson.
“The amounts may be small but the difference to the community can be massive.”
Each market town and its surrounding area – Bedale, Easingwold, Northallerton, Stokesley and Thirsk – receives £25,000.
Grant applications are considered by the local ward councillors, with Cabinet Members giving the final approval for accepted schemes.
Successful applications need to be high quality bids that demonstrate how the project will meet a clearly defined need and make a real difference to the community as well as addressing one of the council’s priorities – driving economic vitality, enhancing health and wellbeing, caring for the environment or providing a special place to live.
The deadline for applications is 13 January 2020, with a decision on which applications have been successful expected in April 2020.
