The latest meeting of the Flat campaign at Thirsk takes place on Saturday with a competitive eight-race card on offer for punters heading to the track.
The card kicks off at 1.35pm with a five furlong maiden fillies’ stakes in class four before the card comes to a close four hours later at 5.40pm as a field of 15 head to the stalls for the six furlong class four handicap.

The first race of the day is off at 1.35 as nine runners take on the five furlong maiden fillies’ stakes in class four. Trainer Karl Burke has been on fire with his youngsters this season and Lam Yai looks the pick of his two-year-olds in the opener, a €135,000 closely related to smart seven furlong winner Where’s Freddy so makes plenty of appeal on paper in a race of newcomers.
Division one of the class four handicap over five furlongs marks race two on the card (2.10) and Kodiac Thriller gets the nod here, a respectable third on debut for the Mark Walford yard at Pontefract 17 days ago having faltered when setting off too hard but can make his presence felt once again down in trip, while division two of the same discipline (2.45) can head to Albegone for the Tim Easterby yard, a short head third over course and distance a fortnight ago having caught the eye.
A class four handicap marks the fourth race of the day at Thirsk (3.20) and the David O’Meara-trained Raulin looks the way to go, getting off the mark last time out to score at Redcar and that form has been subsequently franked, so a 7lb rise in the weights might not be enough to prevent a follow-up for the three-year-old.
O’Meara could bring up a quickfire double on the card in race five (3.55) with Mirsky, who is winless in 13 starts but has dropped down a very attractive mark of 88 in the class three handicap and this is a much less competitive event than when he was eighth on seasonal return at Newmarket, so could be the way to go here.
A field of 12 will take on the seven furlong class three handicap at 4.30, with preference heading the way of Reidh, a back-to-back winner of seven furlong handicap last summer including over course and distance, while the penultimate race of the day (5.05) sees veteran ten-year-old Orbaan get the nod, second at Epsom last time out and dropped into class five company to follow up.
Finally, the card comes to a close at 5.40 as a field 15 head to the stalls for the class six handicap over six furlongs. Happier, trained by Tim Easterby, was a midfield seventh over course and distance on her last spin but is back down in class this time around and should prove too strong for her rivals, chief among them being Captain Vallo, second a fortnight ago at Doncaster but was no match for the winner that day.
