A sponsored walk through the countryside around Middleham will take place next month to raise funds for injured Grand National-winning jockey Graham Lee.
The event is being held on Sunday, April 12, and will take in scenic views over the famous Middleham horse racing gallops.
Participants will walk through the surrounding countryside before returning for refreshments, an auction of promises and raffle at The Saddle Room at Tupgill Park.
The walk aims to raise as much money as possible for The Injured Jockeys Fund, which has been supporting Lee following a career-ending fall in November 2023.
After the accident on Friday, November 10, 2023, Lee spent two weeks receiving treatment at Royal Victoria Infirmary before being transferred to The James Cook University Hospital to be closer to his family.
Funds raised will help support Lee’s ongoing care, which has enabled him to return home to Bedale.
The walk will run from 10.15am until 1.15pm, with food and refreshments served from 1.30pm at The Saddle Room following the walk, alongside the auction and raffle.
People who are unable to attend can still support the fundraiser through a JustGiving page set up by organiser Diane Russell.
Anyone wishing to take part in the walk and receive a sponsor form is asked to register in advance by emailing d.v.russell@outlook.com
