Rotary Club of Northallerton appeals for community project ideas

Club president Tony Wood ready to welcome guests to the club’s open meeting at the Northallerton Inn.

Northallerton Rotarians are inviting residents to join them at a breakfast/brunch meeting to find out about Rotary’s work and to bring their ideas for community projects.

The Rotary Club of Northallerton Mowbray is switching its weekly meeting time and venue for the event.

The breakfast/brunch drop-in event will be held at the Northallerton Inn, 72 High Street, Northallerton, on Monday, September 29, between 10am and noon.

Residents of Northallerton and district are invited to meet club members over refreshments and bring their ideas for projects in the town that the club could tackle.

Recently the club has backed Northallerton Amateur Boxing Club with the gift of four new sets of sparring gloves and new ring ropes. It followed a visit by Rotarians to the club to see the boxing club’s work with the young people of the town.

The donation worth £340 was initiated during Rotarian Chris Horler’s year as club president.

He said the boxing club was providing a great focus for many young people in the town and the club was keen to see it flourish.

Club president Tony Wood said Monday’s breakfast event was an invitation to townsfolk to find out what their local Rotary club could do and how they could be part of efforts to make a difference in the area.

He said: “We are moving our meeting into the town centre to make it easier for people to come and talk to us, to suggest projects in their community that we can bring the skill, experience and resources of our club and its members to help solve.”

“I would urge interested people to think about what needs sorting in their local community, which just needs some manpower and expertise to resolve, to bring those ideas to us.”
