Rishi Sunak meets Northallerton business group

Rishi Sunak met a business networking group that has generated over £500,000 worth of business in just six months.

The Northallerton BNI network, which meets at the Golden Lion Hotel, aims to bring together entrepreneurs and business leaders from Northallerton, Leyburn, and Richmond to share opportunities, build relationships, and grow their businesses through trusted referrals.

BNI is a global membership organisation with over 10,000 members across the UK, operating on the “Givers Gain” principle, the idea that by helping others win business, other members will do so in return.

The Northallerton group says its success demonstrates the power of this approach in fostering collaboration and economic growth at a local level.

During his visit, the Richmond and Northallerton MP met more than 25 attendees, including several first-time visitors, and heard first-hand how the network has helped members form strong partnerships and develop a supportive community of business professionals.

Mr Sunak praised the group’s achievements and the vital role of small businesses in the local economy: “It’s inspiring to see such a proactive group of local businesses working together to support each other’s growth.

“Networks like BNI are not only creating opportunities but also strengthening our local economy.”

Russ Sawdon, executive director of BNI Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire, added: “BNI adds some positive structure and accountability to networking. This new group in Northallerton have already passed £500,000 between members in just the first six months.

“It was an honour and a privilege to have a visit from Rishi as the local MP.  His support made a huge difference to the members. ”
