Detectives are investigating four deaths linked to the use of illegal drugs in the Hambleton and Richmondshire area, North Yorkshire Police have confirmed.
The deaths occurred on different days and at separate locations across the area.
Police say samples of the drugs believed to have contributed to the deaths have been submitted for forensic testing, with results confirming they did not contain harmful contaminants.
As part of the ongoing investigation, four people have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug.
Those arrested include a man in his 20s, a man and a woman both in their 30s, and a woman in her 40s.
All four have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said officers are working closely with partner agencies and public health colleagues to protect the community and prevent further harm.
“We are in close contact with our partners and colleagues in Public Health as we remain committed to doing all that we can to protect people from coming to harm,” the spokesperson said.
